Storms, Sand, Sea Turtles: How Changing Beaches Affect Nesting in South Florida

Join us for our April lecture series, presented by one of our very own Manatee Masters! Find out how storms and sand influence sea turtle nesting. Learn about sea turtles, how they choose which beaches to nest, and how storms and waves influence sandy beaches. Discover how scientists study these dynamic environments and how South Florida shorelines shape nesting success.

Madeleine Hodges grew up in Texas before going to Arizona State University in Tempe to earn her B.S in Geography (Meteorology-Climatology). To learn more about how weather and climate impact coastal environments, she now attends Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton to pursue a master’s degree program in Environmental Science. She is currently working on her thesis project and studying how storms and waves influence sea turtle nests on South Florida beaches.
